12월 첫날의 기도
 
추위가 점점 더해가는 12월, '겨울은 이렇게 추워야지'하면서도 두꺼운 옷을 여미고 시린 손을 부비며 살아갑니다.
 
살아계신 하나님, 12월에도 주님의 따뜻한 사랑과 온기가 온누리에 가득하기를 간절히 소원합니다.
 
겨울의 차가운 바람이 우리를 엄습해도, 어려운 이웃을 위해 손 내미는 것과, 거리를 가득 채운 행복한 웃음소리 가운데 낙담한 사람을 꽉 잡아 주는 친절을 잊지 않게 하옵소서.
 
크리스마스 전구를 밝히며, 평화의 왕으로 오신 아기 예수님을 영접하는 우리가 되게 하소서.
 
한 해의 마무리를 주님 안에서 잘 감당하게 하옵소서.
 
부모들은 직장과 일터에서 섬세한 주님의 도우심에, 자녀들은 학교생활을 기쁨과 은혜로 지켜주심에 감사하게 하옵소서.
 
또한 부모와 자녀가 한 마음으로 주님을 경외하며 찬양하게 하신 것과 교사들이 회복된 교육 방향과 길을 잘 모색하고 찾아가도록 생기를 주신 것에 감사하게 하옵소서.
 
교회와 사회 가운데 주님이 고쳐 주시고 싸매어 주시는 사랑을 깨달으며 감사하는 시간이 되어 또 한 해를 살아갈 용기와 담력과 지혜와 건강도 허락하옵소서.

A Prayer for the First Day of December

As the cold intensifies in December, we bundle up in thick clothing and rub our cold hands together, even as we think, "Winter must be this cold."

Living God, I earnestly pray that Your warm love and warmth will fill the world even in December.

Even as the cold winds of winter buffet us, may we not forget to reach out to our neighbors in need and to embrace the discouraged amidst the joyful laughter that fills the streets.

As we light our Christmas lights, may we welcome the baby Jesus, the Prince of Peace.

May we endure the end of the year in Your grace.

May parents be grateful for Your meticulous guidance in their workplaces and schools, and may children be grateful for Your joy and grace in their school lives.

Also, may we be grateful for the unity of parents and children in reverence and praise You, and for the vitality You have given teachers, enabling them to seek and find the direction and path of restored education.

May this be a time of gratitude and realization of the Lord's healing and binding love in the church and society, and may He grant us the courage, courage, wisdom, and health to face another year.

In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
