자녀의 문화를 이해하는 부모 되게 하소서
 
우리의 부모되신 하나님, 머리털 하나까지 우리의 마음 하나 하나까지 아시는 하나님이 계심에 감사를 드립니다.
 
하나님이 우리를 부모로 불러 주셨는데, 자녀가 무엇을 좋아하는지, 무엇을 할 때 기쁜지 모르고, 사는 것에 치여 지나갔을 때가 많음을 고백합니다.
 
어느덧 커버린 자녀는 자신만의 문화를 있는데, 그것을 터부시하고, 무시할 때도 있었음을 고백합니다.
 
자녀가 무엇을 할 때 즐거운지, 왜 그런 취미 생활을 가지는지 등 조금 더 마음과 눈을 열고 자녀를 바라보게 하옵소서.
 
자녀가 좋아하는 노래는 함께 부르고, 좋아하는 게임은 함께 해보고, 좋아하는 연예인이 있다면 누군지 세심히 살펴보는 등, 자녀의 눈높이에 시선을 맞추는 부모가 되게 하옵소서.
 
부모가 원하는 방향으로 자녀의 삶을 조정하는 것이 아니라 자녀가 즐거워하는 것을 인정하며, 조율하며, 안내하는 부모가 되게 하옵소서.
 
하나님이 우리를 있는 모습 그대로 인정하며, 용납하고 기다리시는 것처럼 자녀의 문화와 삶을 있는 모습 그대로 수용하며, 때로는 기다리고 인내하고 훈육하게 하옵소서.
 
우리에게 지혜와 풍성한 마음을 주시는 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

Let us be parents who understand our children’s culture

God, our parents, we thank you for knowing every hair on our heads and every single heart of ours.

God called us parents, but we confess that there were many times when we didn’t know what our children liked or what made them happy, and we were caught up in life.

Our children, who had grown up, had their own culture, but we sometimes tabooed it and ignored it.

Please open our hearts and eyes a little more and look at our children, asking what they enjoy doing and why they have such hobbies.

Please let us be parents who look at our children’s eyes, such as singing their favorite songs together, playing their favorite games together, and looking closely at their favorite celebrities.

Please let us be parents who acknowledge, coordinate, and guide what our children enjoy, rather than adjusting their lives in the direction they want.

As God accepts us as we are, accepts and waits for us, may we accept our children’s culture and life as they are, and sometimes wait, be patient and discipline them.

In the name of Jesus who gives us wisdom and a rich heart, we pray. Amen.
