(Jeremiah 37:21 떡) Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah to the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread from the paker's street, until all the bread in the city was gone. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison. 하나님은 주의 자녀를 끝까지 보호하시며 인도하시고 살려주시는 분이시다. 오늘 본문에서는 시드기야가 여호야김의 아들 고나야의 뒤를 이어 왕이 되었는데 느부갓네살 왕이 그를 유다 왕으로 세우셨기 때문이었다. 그와 그 신하와 그 땅 백성이 선지자 예레미야의 말씀을 듣지 아니하였는데, 시드기야 왕이 여후갈과 스바냐를 예레미야에게 보내어 하나님께 기도하라고 하였으며, 예레미야가 주의 말씀을 듣고 바로의 군대는 자기 땅 애굽으로 돌아가며 갈대인이 그 성을 쳐서 빼앗을 것이고 그 성을 불사를 것이라고 하였다. 이 후 예레미야는 갈대아인에게 항복하려 한다는 누명을 쓰고 서기관 요나답의 집 웅덩이에 갇히게 되었다. 이에 시드기야가 그를 건져 떡을 계속 주었다. 아멘

God is the One who protects, guides, and saves His children to the end. In today's text, Zedekiah succeeded Jehoiakim's son Conaiah as king because King Nebuchadnezzar had made him king of Judah. Neither he nor his officials nor the people of the land listened to the words of the prophet Jeremiah. King Zedekiah sent Jehucal and Zephaniah to Jeremiah to pray to God. When Jeremiah listened to the word of the Lord, he said that Pharaoh's army would return to their own land, Egypt, and that the Chaldeans would attack the city, take it, and burn it. After this, Jeremiah was falsely accused of surrendering to the Chaldeans and was imprisoned in a cistern in the house of Jonadab the scribe. Zedekiah rescued him and continued to feed him bread. Amen.
