(Jonah 1:9~10 경외) So he said to them, "I am a Hebrew; and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land." Then the men were exceedingly afraid, and said to him, "Why have you done this?" For the men knew that he fled from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them. 하나님은 주의 자녀를 위해 바다와 육지를 조성하시는 분이시다. 오늘 본문에서는 여호와의 말씀이 아밋대의 아들 요나에게 임하여, '너는 일어나 저 큰 성읍 니느웨로 가서 그것을 향하여 외치라'하시매 요나가 주님의 얼굴을 피하려고 다시스로 가는 배에 삯을 주고 탔는데, 여호와께서 큰 바람을 바다 위에 내리시매 배가 깨지게 되었고 요나는 배 밑층에서 누워 자고있었다. 선장이 요나를 깨우며 '네 하나님께 구하라'하고 배에 탄 자들이 폭풍이 누구 때문인지 제비를 뽑으니 요나가 뽑혔다. 이에 요나가 자신은 하늘의 하나님을 경외하는 자며 주의 얼굴을 피하였기 때문이라 하고 자기를 바다에 던지라 했다. 이에 던지니 파도가 잠잠해졌다. 아멘

God is the One who creates the sea and the dry land for His children. In today's passage, the word of the Lord came to Jonah, son of Amittai, saying, "Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach against it." Jonah hired a ship to go to Tarshish, fleeing from the presence of the Lord. But the Lord sent a strong wind over the sea, so that the ship was wrecked. Jonah was sleeping in the lower deck of the ship. The captain woke Jonah and said, "Pray to your God." The ship's crew cast lots to determine who caused the storm, and the lot fell on Jonah. Jonah replied, "I fear the God of heaven and have fled from the presence of the Lord," and told them to throw him into the sea. When he was thrown, the waves calmed down. Amen.
