(Lamentations 3:19~21 소망) Remember my affliction and roaming, The wormwood and the gall. My soul still remembers And sinks within me. This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope. 하나님은 고초와 재앙을 통해 주의 자녀에게 소망을 주시는 분이시다. 오늘 본문에서는 여호와의 분노의 매로 말미암아 고난당하는 자는 예레미야 자신이라고 하며 종일토록 손을 들어 자신을 치신다고 하며 고통과 수고로 자신을 에우시고 어둠 속에 살게 하시기를 죽은지 오랜 자 같게 하시며, 자신의 기도를 물리치시며 자기 길들로 치우치게 하시어 자신의 몸을 찢으시고 화살통의 화살들로 자기 허리를 맞추셨고, 자신을 쓴 것들로 배불리시고 쑥으로 취하게 하시며 심령이 평강에서 멀리 떠나게 하심으로 여호와께 대한 소망이 끊어지게 하셨으나 자기 마음에 담아두셨더니 도리어 소망이 되었다고 한다. 주를 찬양한다.

God is the One who gives hope to His children through hardship and disaster. In today's text, Jeremiah says that he himself was suffering under the rod of the Lord's anger, that He lifted up His hand against him all day long, that He surrounded him with pain and toil, made him live in darkness, like one who had been dead for a long time, rejected his prayers, turned him aside to his own ways, tore his body apart, and struck his waist with arrows from His quiver. He filled him with bitterness and made him drunk with wormwood, and turned his soul far from peace, so that he lost hope in the Lord. But He kept it in his heart, and it became hope. Praise the Lord.
