(Jonah 4:6~7 박넝쿨) And the Lord God prepared a plant and made it come up over Jonah, that it might be shade for his head to deliver him from his misery. So Jonah was very grateful for the plant.But as morning dawned the next day God prepared a worm, and it so damaged the plant that it withered. 하나님은 주의 자녀를 위하여 쉴만한 그늘을 주시는 분이시다. 오늘 본문에서는 요나가 니느웨에서 주의 진노가 돌이켜진 것을 보고 싫어하고 성내며 자신의 생명을 거두어 가시길 구하였다. 주께서는 '네가 성내는 것이 옳으냐'라고 요나에게 말씀하셨고, 요나는 성읍에서 무슨 일이 일어났는지 보려고 성읍 동쪽에 자기를 위하여 초막을 지었는데 여호와께서 박넝쿨을 예비하사 요나를 가리게 하매 요나가 박넝쿨로 인하여 크게 기뻐하였다. 또한 이튿날 주께서 새벽에 벌레가 박넝쿨을 갉아먹게 하시매 요나가 뜨거운 햇볓으로 인하여 죽기를 구하니 주께서 니느웨를 향한 마음을 알게 하셨다. 아멘

God is the One who provides shade for His children. In today's passage, when Jonah saw that the Lord's wrath had turned away from Nineveh, he was displeased and angry, and asked that He take his life. The Lord said to Jonah, "Is it right for you to be angry?" Jonah made a shelter for himself on the east side of the city to see what had happened. Then the Lord provided a vine to grow up to cover Jonah, and Jonah rejoiced greatly because of the vine. The next morning, the Lord caused a worm to eat up the vine, and Jonah prayed that he might die from the scorching sun. The Lord revealed His will toward Nineveh. Amen.
