When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only. 하나님은 주의 자녀에게 자신을 나타내심으로 안심케 하시는 분이시다. 오늘 본문에서는 예수께서 베드로, 야고보, 요한을 데리시고 높은 산에 올라가셔서 그들 앞에서 변형되매 얼굴이 해같이 빛나고 옷이 빛과 같이 희어졌다. 이에 베드로가 거기 초막 셋을 짓자고 말할 때 빛난 구름이 그들을 덮으며 '이는 내 사랑하는 아들이요 내 기뻐하는 자니 너희는 그의 말을 들으라'하셨다. 제자들이 눈을 들고 보매 오직 예수 외에는 아무도 보이지 않았다. 또한 제자들에게 엘리야가 이미 왔으되 사람들이 임의로 대우하였다고 하시니 그가 세례요한인 줄을 깨닫게 되었다. 예수께서 내려오시어 간질 걸린 한 아이를 고쳐주셨다. 주의 기사, 능력을 찬양한다.

God is the One who gives reassurance by revealing Himself to His children. In today's passage, Jesus took Peter, James, and John up a high mountain, and was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as light. Peter suggested that they make three shelters there, but a bright cloud overshadowed them. Jesus said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him." When the disciples looked up, they saw no one but Jesus. He told them that Elijah had already come, but they had done to him whatever they pleased. They realized that he was John the Baptist. Jesus came down and healed an epileptic boy. Praise be to the Lord for his miracles and power.
