(Daniel 5:17 해석) Then Daniel answered, and said before the king, “Let your gifts be for yourself, and give your rewards to another; yet I will read the writing to the king, and make known to him the interpretation. 하나님은 주의 자녀에게 주의 비밀한 일을 해석해 보여주신 분이시다. 오늘 본문에서는 벨사살 왕이 귀족 천명을 위하여 큰 잔치를 베풀고 천명 앞에서 술을 마셨는데 그 부친 그 부친 느부갓네살이 탈취한 은,금 그릇을 가져오라 명하여 그것으로 술을 마시며 금, 은, 구리, 쇠, 나무, 돌로 만든 신들을 찬양하였다. 그 때 사람의 손가락이 벽에 나타나 석회벽에 글자를 쓰는데 왕의 얼굴빛이 변하고 술객과 점쟁이를 불러오게 하였으나 그들이 그 해석을 보이지 못했다. 이에 왕비의 말을 듣고 다니엘을 부르니 그 글자가 '메네 메네 데겔 우바르신'이라 하며 하나님이 왕의 나라의 사대를 세어서 그것을 끝나게 했다고 하였다. 아멘

God is the One who interprets His secrets to His children. In today's passage, King Belshazzar held a grand banquet for a thousand of his nobles and drank wine in their presence. He ordered the silver and gold vessels his father, Nebuchadnezzar, had taken to be brought in. He drank from them and praised the gods of gold, silver, copper, iron, wood, and stone. Then, the fingers of a human hand appeared on the wall and wrote on the plaster. The king's face changed, and he summoned his magicians and diviners, but they could not explain the meaning. After hearing the queen's words, he summoned Daniel, and the writing read, "Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin." He declared, "God has numbered the four generations of your kingdom and brought them to an end." Amen.
