느헤미야 1 ~ 6장


(1:9)but if you return to Me, and keep My commandments and do them, though some of you were cast out to the farthest part of the heavens, yet I will gather them from there, and bring them to the place which I have chosen as a dwelling for My name.'

1장에서는 아닥사스다 왕 제이십년에 느헤미야가 수산궁에 있을 때 하나니로부터 유다와 예루살렘에 남아있는 자들이 그 지방에서 큰 환난을 당하고 능욕을 받고  예루살렘 성은 허물어지고 성문들은 불탔다하는 말을 듣고 울고 수일동안 슬퍼하며 하늘의 하나님 앞에서 금식하며 기도하되 주의 계명을 지키는 자에게 언약을 지키시며 긍휼을 베푸시는 주께 자복하오니 주께서 귀를 기울이고 눈을 여시어 종의  기도를 들어주시기를 구하며 그들이 주의 종 모세에게 명령하신 계명을 지키지   아니하였다고 하였다. 또한 만일 그들이 범죄하지 아니하면 여러 나라 가운데 흩을 것이지만 주께 돌아와 주의 계명을 지키면 주의 이름을 두려고 택한 곳에 돌아오게 하시겠다고 한 약속을 기억해 주시길 간구하였다.


(2:8)and a letter to Asaph the keeper of the king's forest, that he must give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel which pertains to the temple, for the city wall, and for the house that I will occupy." And the king granted them to me according to the good hand of my God upon me.

2장에서는 아닥사스다 왕 제 이십년에 느헤미야가 왕에게 포도주를 드렸는데 왕이 느헤미야의 얼굴에 있는 수심을 알아보고 느헤미야가 이것에 대하여 왕께 대답하여서 자기 조상들의 묘실이 있는 성읍이 불탔다고 하며 하늘의 하나님께 묵도한 후에 자신을 자신의 조상이 있는 성읍으로 보내어 그 성읍을 건축하게 해 주실 것을   구하였다. 이에 왕이 허락하자 느헤미야가 왕의 조서를 받았으며 또한 삼림 감독 아삽에게 그 성전 영문과 집을 위해 쓸 재목을 받아서 가매 호론 사람 산발랏과  암몬 사람 도비야가 심히 근심하였으며 그가 밤에 골짜기 문으로 나가서 용정으로 분문에 이르는 동안 예루살렘 성벽이 무너진 것을 확인하였다.


(3:15)Shallun the son of Col-Hozeh, leader of the district of Mizpah, repaired the Fountain Gate: he built it, covered it, hung its doors with its bolts and bars, and repaired the wall of the Pool of Shelah by the King's Garden, as far as the stairs that go down from the City of David.

3장에서는 대제사장 엘리아십이 양문을 건축하여 성별하고 성벽을 건축하여 함메아 망대에서 하나넬 망대까지 성별하고 그 다음은 여리고 사람, 그 다음 이므리의   아들 삭굴, 어문은 하스나아의 자손, 그 다음은 우리아의 아들 므레못, 그 다음은 므세사벨의 손자 므술람, 그 다음은 사독, 그 다음은 다고아 사람, 옛 문은 요야다와 브소드야의 아들 므술람, 그 다음은 믈라댜와 야돈, 그 다음은 금장색 할해야의 아들 웃시엘, 그 다음은 향품 장사 하나냐, 그 다음은 후르의 아들 르바야, 그 다음은 하루갑의 아들 여다야, 그 다음은 하삽느야의 아들 핫두스, 하림의 아들 말기야, 바핫모압의 아들 핫숩, 할로헤스의 아들 살룸과 딸들이 중수했다.


(4:4)Hear, O our God, for we are despised; turn their reproach on their own heads, and give them as plunder to a land of captivity!

4장에서는 산발랏이 이스라엘이 성을 건축한다는 말을 듣고 크게 분노하고 비웃으며 불탄 돌을 흙 무더기에서 다시 올리려 하는지 물었다. 암몬사람 도비야도 곁에서 이르되 돌 성벽이 곧 무너질 것이라 하매 느헤미야가 하나님께 구하여 그들의 욕하는 것이 자기 머리에 돌아가며 이방에 사로잡히게 하며 그들의 악을 덮어두지 마시고 그들의 죄를 도말하지 말아 주실 것을 구하였다. 산발랏과 도비야가 예루살렘성이 중수된다는 말을 듣고 예루살렘 성을 치고 요란하게 하자고 하매 느헤미야가 하나님께 기도하고 파수꾼을 두어 주야로 방비하며 성벽 뒤의 낮고 넓은 곳에 백성이 그들의 종족을 따라 칼과 창을 가지고 서 있게 했다.


(5:15)But the former governors who were before me laid burdens on the people, and took from them bread and wine, besides forty shekels of silver. Yes, even their servants bore rule over the people, but I did not do so, because of the fear of God.

5장에서는 백성들이 그들의 아내와 크게 부르짖어 유다 사람을 원망하여 우리와  우리 자녀가 많으니 양식을 얻어 먹고 살기 위하여 밭과 포도원과 집이라도 저당 잡혀야 하겠다고 하고, 또한 그들의 육체나 그들의 자녀들의 육체가 그들 형제의 육체와 같지마는 이제 그들과 그들의 자식들이 종으로 팔리게 되었다고 하며 한탄하였다. 이에 느헤미야가 그들의 소행이 좋지 못함을 꾸짖고 그들의 행동이 여호와를 경외하는 행동이 아니라 하고 우리들이 그 이자 받기를 그치자고 하고 그들의 밭과 포도원과 돈이나 양식이나 새 포도주나 기름의 백분의 일을 돌려보내라고   하였다. 이에 그들이 하나님을 찬양하고 그대로 시행하겠다고 했다.


(6:9)For they all were trying to make us afraid, saying, "Their hands will be weakened in the work, and it will not be done"

6장에서는 산발랏과 도비야와 아라비아 사람들이 느헤미야가 성벽의 허물어진 틈을 메웠다 하는 말을 듣고 느헤미야에게 사람을 보내어 오노 평지의 한 촌에서 서로 만나자고 하였으나 느헤미야가 자신이 큰 역사를 하니 내려가지 못하겠다고 하고 네번이나 거절하였다. 또한 느헤미야가 왕이 되고자 하는 소문이 있다고 그를 회유하며 함께 의논하자고 하였으나 느헤미야가 이런 일은 없는 것이라 하며 그 말도 듣지 않고 도리어 하나님께 자신의 손을 힘있게 하여 주시길 구하였다. 한편, 므헤다벨의 손자 들라야가 두문분출하다가 느헤미야가 가니 하나님의 전 외소 안에   숨자고 하였으나 이것도 거절하니 이것이 뇌물 받은 일인 줄 알게 되었다.


Nehemiah 1--6
(1:9)but if you return to Me, and keep My commandments and do them, though some of you were cast out to the farthest part of the heavens, yet I will gather them from there, and bring them to the place which I have chosen as a dwelling for My name.'

In Chapter 1, in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when Nehemiah was in the palace of Shushan, those who remained in Judah and Jerusalem from Hanani suffered great tribulation and reproached in the region, and the city of Jerusalem was torn down, and the gates were burned, and wept for several days. We mourn, fasting and praying before the God of heaven, but I confess to you, who keeps the covenant and shows mercy to those who keep your commandments. I ask you to listen and open your eyes to hear your servant's prayers, and they command your servant Moses. He said he did not keep the commandments he had given. Also, he prayed that if they did not sin, they would scatter among the nations, but if they return to the Lord and obey the commandments of the Lord, he prayed that he would remember the promise that he would return to the place he chose to put the name of the Lord.

In Chapter 2, in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, Nehemiah gave the king wine, and the king found out the depth in Nehemiah's face, and Nehemiah answered the king, saying that the city where his ancestors were on fire, and meditated on the God of heaven. Later, he sent himself to the city where his ancestors were, asking for help to build that city. When the king gave permission, Nehemiah received the king's decree, and also received the letter of the temple and timber for the house from Asaph, the forest overseer, and went to Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite. In the meantime, it was confirmed that the walls of Jerusalem had collapsed.

(3:15) Shallun the son of Col-Hozeh, leader of the district of Mizpah, repaired the Fountain Gate: he built it, covered it, hung its doors with its bolts and bars, and repaired the wall of the Pool of Shelah by the King's Garden, as far as the stairs that go down from the City of David.

In chapter 3, Eliashib the high priest built and consecrated the two gates, and built walls to consecrate them from the Tower of Hammea to the Tower of Hananel, followed by the people of Jericho, then Zacgur the son of Imri, the son of Hasnaah, and Uriah the next. The son of Meremoth, followed by Meshullam the grandson of Meshesabel, then Zadok, then the Dadaites, the old gates were Joiada and Meshullam the sons of Besodeiah, and then Melathiah and Jadon, and then Uzziel the son of Halhaah, the gold-colored, then Hananiah, the seller of spices, then Rephaiah the son of Hur, Jedaiah the son of Harugab, Hathdus the son of Hasabneya, Malkiah the son of Harim. Hashed son of Bahat Moab, Shallum son of Halohes, and daughters were retired.
(4:4) Hear, O our God, for we are despised; turn their reproach on their own heads, and give them as plunder to a land of captivity!

In chapter 4, when Sanballat heard that Israel was building a city, he was greatly angry and laughed at, asking if he would try to lift the burnt stone out of the pile of dirt. Tobiah the Ammonite also said, ``The stone walls will soon fall.'' Nehemiah asked God to ask God that their cursing would go to his head and be held captive in the heathen, and that they would not cover their wickedness and blot out their sins. When Sanballat and Tobiah heard that the city of Jerusalem was going to be reclaimed, they told him to strike the city of Jerusalem and make it loud, and Nehemiah prayed to God and set up watchmen to defend it day and night, and the people followed their clans with swords and spears in a low and wide place behind the wall. Let it stand.

In Chapter 5, the people cried out loudly with their wives and blamed the people of Judah, and said that we and our children, because we have a lot of children, should be put in mortgage in their fields, vineyards, and houses in order to get food and live, and that their flesh or their children's flesh is their brethren. They lamented that they and their children were now sold as slaves, although they were not like the flesh of the man. Then Nehemiah rebuked their conduct for being bad, and said that their actions were not in fear of the Lord, and asked that we cease to receive the interest. Said. So they praised God and said they would do it.

(6:9) For they all were trying to make us afraid, saying, "Their hands will be weakened in the work, and it will not be done"

In Chapter 6, when Sanballat, Tobiah, and the Arabians heard that Nehemiah had filled the cracks in the walls, they sent a man to Nehemiah to meet each other in a village on the plains of Ono. I refused four times. In addition, Nehemiah said that he had a rumor that he wanted to become king, and asked to discuss with him, but Nehemiah said that this would not happen, and instead asked God to strengthen his hand. On the other hand, Mehedabel's grandson Delaiah was erupting from the door, and Nehemiah went and asked to hide in God's office.
