Whoever guards his mouth and tongue Keep his soul from troubles. 하나님은 주의 자녀로 입과 혀를 지키게 하시어 환난에서 지키시는 분이시다. 오늘 본문에서는 왕의 마음이 주의 손에 있음이 봇물과 같아서 그가 임의로 인도하신다고 하며 사람의 행위가 자기 보기에는 정직해도 여호와는 마음을 감찰하신다고 했다. 또한, 공의와 정의를 행하는 것이 제사 드리는 것보다 여호와께서 기쁘게 여기신다고 하며 눈이 높은 것과 마음이 교만한 것과 악인의 형통한 것은 다 죄라고 하셨다. 부지런한 자의 경영은 풍부함에 이를 것이나 조급한 자는 궁핍함에 이를 따름이라고 하고 악인의 강포는 자기를 소멸하지만 지혜로운 자는 교훈을 받아 지식을 더할 것이라고 했다. 지혜의 근원이신 주를 찬양한다.
