민족 고유의 명절, 추석에 드리는 기도
 
우리에게 고유의 명절 추석을 허락해 주신 하나님, 감사합니다.
 
예부터 전해져 온 큰 날, 흩어진 각 가정들이 하나님을 기억하며 모이기를 소망합니다.
 
이스라엘 백성들이 보리를 거두고 먹이시고 입히시는 하나님을 기억하고 감사하며 맥추절을 지닌 것처럼 우리도 한 해 동안 먹이시고 입히신 하나님의 은혜를 기억하기를 원합니다.
 
가족이 함께 모여 단순히 먹고 마시며 즐기는 것에 그치지 말게 하시고, 삶의 이야기와 함께 하신 하나님의 은혜를 나누며 감사하는 시간이 되게 하옵소서.
 
또한 명절은 어떤 이에게는 생각만 해도 즐겁고 행복한 절기이며, 또 어떤 이에게는 한 없이 외로운 날이기도 합니다.
 
기쁨과 행복을 함께 나누는 가정에도, 또 혼자 명절을 보내는 가정에도 동일한 은혜로 이 날을 채워주시기를 소망합니다.
 
하나님께서 우리 민족에게 추석이란 명절을 허락하심에 감사하며, 이웃과 함께 그 은혜를 나누는 절기가 되게 하옵소서.

A Prayer for Chuseok, Our Unique National Holiday

God, thank you for granting us our unique holiday, Chuseok.

On this great day, passed down from generation to generation, I pray that scattered families will gather together, remembering you.

Just as the Israelites celebrated the Feast of Weeks, remembering and giving thanks to God for the barley harvest, feeding, and clothing them, we too may remember the grace of God who has provided for and clothed us throughout the year.

May our family gatherings not simply be a time of eating, drinking, and enjoying each other's company, but a time of sharing stories of life and giving thanks for the grace of God.

Furthermore, while the mere thought of the holiday is a joyful and happy time for some, it is also a time of endless loneliness for others.

I pray that this day will be filled with the same grace for families who share joy and happiness together, and for families who celebrate alone.

I thank God for granting us the Chuseok holiday, and may it become a time of sharing that grace with our neighbors.

In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
