대림절에 드리는 기도
 
아주 작은 한 아기가 탄생함으로 흑암 가운데 있는 백성에게 큰 빛이 비치었습니다.
 
세상 가운데 예수님을 보내주셔서 어둠과 아픔의 그늘에서 살아가는 우리의 인생을 완전히 바꾸어 놓으신 하나님을 찬양합니다.
 
이 땅에 탄생하신 예수님을 축하하며 다시 오실 예수님을 기다리고 있음을 새롭게 확인하는 이 대림절 기간, 한 주간에 촛불이 하나씩 밝혀질 때마다 점점 성탄에 가까워지며 빛으로 인도되어 갈 때 그리스도 오심의 신비가 우리에게 이천 년 전의 사건이 아니라 오늘의 사건이 되어지기를 소망합니다.
 
기다림의 시간 속에서 베들레헴에 탄생하신 아기 예수님과의 거룩한 만남을 준비하게 하시고 주님의 길을 준비하며 회개를 외쳤던 세례 요한의 목소리에 귀를 기울여 그분을 우리의 삶의 자라에 온전히 모셔드리는 구체적 결단이 있게 하옵소서.
 
우리와 자녀들에게 그 만남이 하나님의 은혜를 깨닫는 사건이 되게 하여 주옵소서.
 
또한 화목 제물이 되심으로 세상과 하나님을 화목케 하신 그 용서와 사랑에 감사하며 세상과 타인을 더욱 이해하고 용납함으로 평화의 왕으로 오신 주님의 소식이 우리를 통해 세상 속에 전해지게 하옵소서.

A Prayer for Advent

With the birth of a tiny baby, a great light shone upon the people in darkness.

We praise God for sending Jesus into the world, completely transforming our lives, which were shadowed by darkness and pain.

In this Advent season, as we celebrate the birth of Jesus on this earth and reaffirm our anticipation of his return, as each candle is lit each week, we draw ever closer to Christmas and are led into the light, I pray that the mystery of Christ's coming will become for us not an event from two thousand years ago, but an event of today.

In this time of waiting, may we prepare for the sacred encounter with the baby Jesus born in Bethlehem. May we heed the voice of John the Baptist, who prepared the way for the Lord and called for repentance, and make a concrete decision to fully welcome him into our lives.

May this encounter become an event that awakens us to the grace of God for us and our children.

We also give thanks for the forgiveness and love that brought reconciliation between God and the world by becoming a sacrifice of atonement. May we understand and accept the world and others more deeply, so that the message of the Lord, who came as the Prince of Peace, may be spread through us throughout the world.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
