성탄절에 드리는 기도
 
이스라엘 백성들이 꿈꾸었던 메시아를 약속대로 보내주신 하나님, 이천 여 년이 지난 지금에도 우리의 삶 가운데서 약속대로 예수님을 보내주심에 감사드립니다.
 
사람들은 여전히 교육으로 자신의 삶의 평화를 찾고 있습니다.
 
좋은 대학에 가서, 좋은 직장에 가면, 그곳에서 경쟁하여 살아남아 성공을 하면, 자신의 삶에 참된 평화가 찾아올 것이라고 생각합니다.
 
하지만 하나님, 참된 평화는 예수 그리스도로 인해 이루어짐을 고백합니다.
 
예수님이 이 땅에 오심으로 하나님과 우리가 평화를 누리고, 우리와 세상이 화목케 됨을 고백합니다.
 
세상의 경쟁주의, 입시중심의 문화 속에서 하나님의 방법, 섬김의 방법, 낮아짐의 방법으로 평화를 누리는 우리가 되게 하옵소서.
 
이천 년 전 시작된 복음의 약속이 오늘, 여기에 있는 우리에게도 여전히 들림에 감사를 드립니다.
 
이제 우리가 그 평화의 시작점이 되게 하시고, 예수님이 오시는 그 날까지 세상을 섬기는 그리스도인이 되게 하옵소서.

A Christmas Prayer

God, who sent the Messiah the Israelites dreamed of as promised, thank you for sending Jesus into our lives as promised, even now, two thousand years later, as you promised.

People still seek peace in their lives through education.

They believe that true peace will come to them if they go to a good university, get a good job, compete, survive, and succeed there.

But God, we confess that true peace is achieved through Jesus Christ.

We confess that through Jesus' coming to this earth, we can enjoy peace with God and reconcile with the world.

In this world's competitive, college-focused culture, may we become those who enjoy peace through God's way, the way of service, and the way of humility.

We give thanks that the promise of the Gospel, which began two thousand years ago, still resonates with us today.

May we become the starting point of that peace, and may we become Christians who serve the world until the day Jesus returns.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
