오늘 본문에서는 선지자 엘리사가 선지자의 제자 중 하나를 길르앗 라못으로 가게 하여 예후에게 기름을 붓게 한다. 이에 선지자의 제자가 예후에게 기름을 부어 왕을 삼자 예후와 함께 한 자들이 자기 옷을 예후 밑에 깔고 예후를 왕이라 하였다. 예후가 병거를 타고 이스르엘로 가매 예후를 본 파수군이 요람 왕에게 고하자 요람왕이 아하시야와 함께 나봇의 토지에서 만나매 예후가 요람의 염통을 쏘아 죽이고 아하시야도 죽이며 이세벨을 만나 창에서 던져 죽게 한다. 주님은 공의를 행하시는 분이시다. 주의 뜻을 행하기 원한다.
